Lady Lara: Fall — “Our Lullaby”Get the FREE (!!!) download right here.  Written/performed by Lady Laura, produced by Matt Ryd (that’s me!)
So, about a year ago, I was good acquaintances with Laura, but I wouldn’t say that we were necessarily “friends” in the “we hang out on a regular basis” sort of way.  Longstoryshort, the two of us ended up going out to lunch one day and talking about a whole bunch of things, and walked away from the lunch basically saying, “Yeah… this should probably happen again in the not-too-distant future.”
Fast-forward a year later, and I honestly can’t say enough positive things about this girl.  I could seriously gush for paragraphs about what an amazing friend she has been, but I’m just going to tell you this one story: about a month ago, I come home and find that my back door has blown open. After spending .5 seconds thinking that I was robbed, I suddenly realize: “GASP!  Ladybug!!” (That’s my cat, if you have somehow not been paying attention).  I called Laura frantically after searching for an hour to tell her that Ladybug had gotten out and was missing (Laura is as much of a crazy cat lady as I am, and one few people who would understand why I was so incredibly panicked).  Laura immediately just says, “I’m coming right over.”  I tried to talk her out of it—it was 12:30am, and I tried to convince her that I was fine—and she goes, “No way.  Are you crazy?  I’m hailing a cab now.  I’ll be there in 10 minutes.”  And then she helped me search for another hour until it started raining and we decided that the best thing to do was wait for Ladybug to come home.  (Which she did, thankfully, later that morning).  And I called Laura (at 5something in the morning) to tell her, and in a groggy voice, she was elated and thankful.  Probably the only person in the world who cared more that Ladybug had come home was me.
Okay… let’s go back to a year ago.  As Laura was striking off on her own from I Fight Dragons, a lot of people were asking her when she was going to record her own music.  She mentioned that she’d love to, but she no longer had unfettered access to a basement recording studio.  As an aside, I responded, “Well… no, but you’re welcome at my studio if you ever want to record something!”  At the time, she was probably gonna come over and record a cover or two, but probably nothing beyond that.
Back to present-day, and it has turned out that I’m producing her first solo release.  I get to be one of the one of the first people to hear the super-rough demos of her new songs (which are all SO GREAT by the way—you guys are gonna love the rest of this album a lot), and I’m so incredibly proud of her for pursuing this, as well as just incredibly proud and honored to be a part of this project.
I could honestly go on for a while, but the fact of the matter is, Laura Green (aka Lady Laura) is a fantastic songwriter, an amazing musician, and just all-around a wonderful, wonderful person.  Please, do yourselves a favor and download her first single and sign up for her mailing list so that you can keep tabs on the upcoming releases.  Because if you like this song (and you will), the rest of the songs on the album just keep getting better and better.
