So, if you haven’t seen on the Facebooks, the Googles Plus, or the Twitters, something wonky happened with my YouTube page a few days ago.  Longstoryshort, it got suspended.  I’m waiting to hear back from Google, and hopefully they’ll send me an email being all like: “Oh, LOL, j/k.  Here ya go!  Here’s your three years of hard work back!”  But, as it stands right now, my original YouTube page is completely gone.
Most of my videos were saved to my hard drive, so I’m reuploading as I get a chance.  So far, the only one I haven’t found is “Little Drummer Boy”, which is a major bummer because… well.. I really liked that one.  I really liked them all, actually.  Each one represented hours and hours of work, and to see them all disappear in a blink of an eye, without any warning or notice… well… I haven’t cried or anything, but if this turns out to be permanent, you can expect some sort of angsty song to be written about it.
Anyhoo.  I have a new channel.  http://youtube.mattryd.com/  If you were subscribed to my old channel, I’d appreciate it if you headed over there and subscribed to the new one, too.  With any luck, this whole thing will be moot, and we’ll all be able to pretend like it was a bad, horrible dream.  But making videos is a big part of my life.  I’m not about to stop doing it (although the plans I had for a video this week are pretty much out the window), so if you wanna stay updated and make sure to have them pop up on your YouTube page, go on over and subscribe.
I feel horribly, HORRIBLY self-indulgent posting stuff like this.  I’m not a numbers guy.  To me, it’s not about how many subscribers I have, or how many views I get, or anything like that.  Those things are nice, but they’re not at all the main reason why I do what I do.  What really bugs me is that I know that there were people who looked forward to my new videos, who only followed me on YouTube, and as far as they’re concerned, I’ve just disappeared without so much as a goodbye.
Anyhoo.  Wah wah wah.  Emo emo emo.  If you are a fan of the videos, and you want to get updates through YouTube, go ahead and subscribe.  If you don’t want to, that’s cool, too—I’ll still be posting things to Facebook and Twitter and to my blog.
And if any of you out there are YouTubers, make sure that you keep meticulous backup copies of all of your videos.  I know that I have most of mine, but they’re scattered around dozens of folders on multiple hard drives and, frankly, this whole thing is just a major pain in the ass.
Okay.  End rant.  In happier news, I have a show coming up!  If you’re in Chicago, you should come see Xoe and me perform at Martyrs on October 26th!  It’ll be fun, it’ll be rad, there’ll be at least one duet, and we’ll all just have a grand ol’ time and party like it’s not-a-Wednesday night.  :-)
Heart you all.  Thanks for putting up with my annoying, rambling complaining.
